RE: Planning to leave my VTEC and get a V8
Ok yoru insurance problem wont be with you driving record but with your credit. Expect to pay over $2000 a year and I'm being conservative. You can easly get in the high 13's by doing the intake, exhaust, gears. Mid 13's add a tuner, TB, Plenum, Tires, Got to do the short throw shifter.
I don't see how you would get on the high 12's with this modes but if 94Cbra says so?
About the gas. Since I put my gears in. I've never got more than 200 miles on a full tank. How do you guys get that many miles
The only thing I can tell you is that driving this cars are so much fun that you have no idea. Love my stang!

I was quoted for about $3200 a year on a 99 GT convertible 5 spd. That's full coverage with a clean driving record, no tickets or accidents, and me being 20. It was a convertible, mind you, so its going to be a little higher. I'm 21 now, and insurance on my Camaro runs me about $120 a month full coverage, and I imagine a 96 or so Mustang would be about the same. The 96-98 GTs, as stated, aren't going to be as quick stock for stock as the 99-04s, but they're not dogs either. Hope this helps.

I wish I lived where you guys live. My insurance is in 6 months what you pay for in a year. It's $2622.61 every 6 months, and I also have a spotless driving record. I am insured through State Farm - they were the cheapest I could find.... [:'(]

Check with another insurance company, the costs can vary a lot!! When I was 18 I had a 89' LX5.0 and even after I sold it, and was driveing a 84' ranger my insurance was sky high. When I went to a different insurance agent they told me that they (the insurance company I was currently with) had me as a high risk, and the new company would be able to put me in one of the lowest risk cat. and It would be almost $450 cheeper for the 6 month's. When I went back to my insurance agent and asked him why i was on High risk he tole me because When I was 18 I had a mustang with a V8 in it. So I asked him when I was going to come off high risk and he told me that it would drop when I turned 24 (I was 22 at the time with a clean record). Moral to this loooong story is to shop around!!!!!
