Default PLEASE HELP

All these price quotes from FORD are parts and labor! Give me your opinions I need them desperately!!

1. Clutch will squeak when fully released (moving or standing still) and "tick" when fully depressed (only when moving)
Basically what they said is that the noises are coming from the pedal assembly themselves.. and that nothing internal is wrong. Because I have aftermarket pedals, they can't do anything but rip out the entire assembly and replace it for $489.99

2. When coming to a 5mph-0mph controlled stop, the brake pedal vibrates. I removed ABS fuse and it stopped. ABS fuse is currently in. Also, if you coast the vehicle after the pedal vibrates a steady clicking comes from the front passenger wheel well.
Rear left wheel speed sensor is bad. They actually said somehow it was "crushed" and that I would also be needing "axle seals?"

Heres the breakdown on this one: To fix the ABS sensor alone, it will cost 164.58 + 90.00 (IF I DONT DO THE AXLE SEALS) But if I do the Axle seals.. it will be the $164.58 + $342.56 whioch equals out to about $500.00

3. The thermostat in the gauge cluster reads fully hot after 2 minutes of the car running.
[/b]They said it is a instrument cluster issue entirely, and nothing to do with sensors. The guy with the car before me put in aftermarket Steeda Gauges and I guess didn't calibrate the thermostat thing right. So, what Ford wants to do is replace the entire assemply because they can't touch aftermarket stuff.. Guess how much?? $417.04

4. When backing out of a parking space and turning the wheel LEFT, occasionally a loud scraping noise is heard.

[/b]They say there is a small leak in the power steering pump - 341.00 - wtf??

5. When I first start the car and begin to go forward, if I turn the wheel LEFT, there is a very faint "thud" that comes from the front of the car, It can be felt in the steering.

[/b]They did not have time to diagnose this, it would cost extra

6. There is slight play in the steering wheel. I had steering rack bushings replaced a month or two ago. The steering rack itself, I was told, didn't need to be replaced.

[/b]same as problem #5... They had their best troubleshooter go and try to find as much as he could in 60 minutes (the $90 diagnostic)

7. When I pump gas into my car, it does not matter how full the tank is, the pump shuts off like the tank is full repeatedly. A few times, I had only put 5 gallons of gas into the car (the tank size is 15) and it clicked off and spilled gas everywhere from underneath the rear fender. I went to check the fuel level in the car and it was only 1/3 full. The car has had a new fuel pump and seal installed, I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem.

[/b]This one is fishy.. They said that the "Gas tank filler neck" is stuck or clogged or something.. replacement is $397.11. Isn't the filler neck just like a hose with clamps?

8. Rear end of car "creaks or ticks" most noticeably when applying the brakes hard to "rock" the car, basically to get it out of it's forward momentum.. and as the car rocks the back, the clicking noise appears.

[/b]Rear shocks are beyond shot.. I have new AGX adjustables in the front.. I just plan on putting the same for the back. They actually only wanted $184.50 which is extremely reasonable

1. Clutch adjustment. It sounds like your clutch is not fully disengaged when the pedal it up. (stretched clutch cable?)
2. The vibration could be caused by warped rotors? Does your ABS light of brake light stay on?
3. Calibrate the gauge or get a new one? got to be cheaper than $400
4. Are you low on PS fluid? Can you see a leak? I wouldnt buy what they are selling here.
5. Sounds like you might have a bad ball joint @ the left tire. When you turn it pops loose. I would inspect that.
6. See #5, check ball joints, tie-rods, and powersteering fluid.
7. This happens to me occasionally. If you take the nozzel out of the "filler tube" and retry it will usually fix that. It appears that an air pocket developes and cause the pump to cut off.
8. If the shocks are shot then the rear is going to travel further up and down. This will cause stress on other parts of your suspension make more squeaks and squeals.

My best suggestion is to get some tools and dive in. Labor is at $80/hr most places and its a set rate and time calculated by Ford, they are never under but may go over. Also, you will definetly be able to find parts cheaper than a dealer. (autozone, napa, advanced autoparts, even a scrap yard)

Hope this helps. good luck.

I wouldn'thave thedealer make these repairs since for alot of them you could easily do them on your own and save a few bucks. Just make yourself a list of problems with your car and take care of them one at a time. Also for the abs sensor you can save yourself the money and install it yourself. It will take a whole 15 minutes at most. And for the steeda guages are they an overlay kit. Maybe the needle was installed wrong when they were installed. And for your steering wheel play check your steering shaft under the dash were shaft slides at. There known for wearing out at that point and causing slop. Also for your filling issue when gas leaked out from under the car. Iv'e replaced a few filler necksat work were they rust out at the bottom. The little protective cover on the bend that goes to the tank holds water and cuases it to rust out, and if you replace itspend the extra cash and get a filler neck seal while you there.

You received a handful of opinions and advice on your previous thread. Most of us warned you about the dealership. At the minimum, the $90 bucks you gave them could have paid for your tranny oil change and a Chilton or Haynes repair manual.
