I believe Ford changed their recommendation from 5w-30 to 5w-20 in '01 or '02.

ya 99-00 is 5w30

in 01 they changed over to 5w20 and put it on the cap as well

i use 5w30 in my 2000

if 99-00 was 5w30 an 01+ are 5w20, i think it means guys with 99-00 gt (like me) should also use 5w20. because as far as i know its pretty much the same engine.

Personally i use 5w20 mobil 1. it runs better than the 5w30 i used to put it previously. (no kidding)

I went with 5W-20, it's fine. I used it last time too. 5 Quarts even.. right?

Last time? I thought you said this is your first time. Yeah 5 Quarts even should do it...Mine take 6 for some reason (without overfilling). Still haven't figured that one out.

Actually dude, Haynes says 6.. idk what's up with that. Everyone else has told me 5 quarts. What I meant btw was this is my first time changing the oil w/ the new motor.. it just hit like 2,500 miles. The dealership put the oil in when it was fresh.
