Default High Performance Crate Motor

Well I am in need of a new motor and thought of doing a full complete built forged motor. Please provide me with your past experience, motor recommendation (why), and good vendors to buy them from. I am looking for a whole setup motor with 400-475 hp. Would this be my best bet and will not be a daily driver. I am not going to use my blower but want a nice high performance cammed motor to match power of my car or better all on motor.

As always thanks - Keith

Foxlake.

Ive heard lots of good things about their motors. You can tell em what mods you want to go with the motor and theyll build the motor to suit your mods.

It looks like you already have 390hp. Just get a forged short block from MMR, MPH, or any of those places. The MMR 900 is only like $2800 or something. Then you can put down more than 400-475 hp. Assuming everything behind the motor is good.

At first when I saw crate motor I thought you were looking at buying a complete motor (longblock, intake, ready to run kind of thing) and putting it in, like dropping in an old 351W or something. But if all you want is 400 hp you'll be fine with a new shortblock.

Say it with me...

5.0 stroker... 5.0 stroker

with a nice set of heads and cams you will have plenty of street power...

i think i'm going that route next summer...

I guess it all comes down to dollars and cents would want 500 hp depending on the cost.A full crate motor is 7 K or moreand I sell my blower for 3 K it would be around 4 out of pocket. If I go with a new block for 3 K I need new heads as well for another 1300 then add tuning with blower and I am about the same.

I have seen motors for like 10 grand and don't want to spend that much. Ideally 6-7 K depending on the power it will have.

Looking for thoughts as I don't know which way to go but like the idea of n/a motor with good power.

www.foxlakeracing.com Email Ron and tell him what you want. I've got everything planned, so when the new year rolls around, i'll be cashiers check for 7k so i can dump into a new motor from them. Forged bottom end with cobra crank and stage II ported heads with the fox lake p-51 intake.
