There has to be a problem, right
Sorry, for the second post on the same topic today(as another member) but i have noticed im getting horrible gas mileage. I do have a heavy foot. But ever since we changed my sending unit, it seems its getting worse with each passing week!
I get roughly 16mpg, mostly highway. I usually am anywhere between 65-75mph at around 2500rpms. My mods are listed in my sig, including a brenspeed tune.
When my gas light was broken(sending unit) i ran out of gas completely once and almost a second. I know how sensitive the fuel pump is so i'll probably replace that when i get back from vacation, along with the fuel filter. Today I'm probably going to go by autozone and get some kind of fuel injector cleaner to put in my gas tank. Anyone have any other suggestions...i want to start with the cheapest and easiest solutions first then make my way onto the pump and filter....maybe injectors, fuel rail etc.
Does that about cover it, any suggestions would be great!?

RE: There has to be a problem, right
how are you doing your calculations? Number of miles on tripometer / number of gallons to fill then reset the tripometer?
2500 Will kill you right there....auto or manual?
Start using the O/D on the auto or using 5th more on a manual.

Yea that is in 5th gear(stick), and yea thats exactly how im calculating it. Is that not accurate? seems like im around 200/210 miles per tank(not hitting gas light).
It just seems like there is a problem; i dont remember it being this bad when i got her or even after i put the gears in. i guess i could try to slow down, but im just always late. Even considering that...i still dont think that sounds right does it?
It probably wouldn't hurt to change the pump and filter as soon as i get back.
*UPDATE: running 93 octane and and 67k miles on it

RE: There has to be a problem, right
The calculations are correct (about 12-12.5 gallons at fillup correct?)
2500 at 65-70mph?? good grief.. That will impact 1-2mpg easy. With a stock differential gear you'd probably be closer to 1700 RPM.
At 60 K you should definitely replace the plugs, air filter, and fuel filter, oh and stay off the gas or at least learn to keep your foot on teh gas with even pressure

No its really about 16; thats what i get whenever i put in the exact number upon fillup. I didnt realize plugs could affect that at all. Thats cool though maybe i can pick up fuel filter and plugs today along with injector cleaner. I guess i could do 60 or 55 on the way home and during leisure driving, but going to work its gotta be 75 ish. any other ideas on possible cheap solutions; like anything before changing the pump or injectors. i def want to do those last

RE: There has to be a problem, right
ok cool derf. yea injectors would be last(only if im going to keep it and supercharge) I meant to put fuel filter actually, instead of pump in my last post.
The only reason i'm going to replace the pump is if i take every other step along with slowing down and i still get 16mpg.Plus running out of gas completely like i did, hurts the pump alot. Andwhen i changed the sending unit its possible, although unlikely, we couldve knicked a line or damaged the pump assembly some how. Thats why i still would want to replace it; even if after everything else.
