You don't even need mufflers to pass emissions. Just as long as you have cats. I used to have an 01' Ranger that had not mufflers just straight exhaust after the cat and had no problem passing California emissions. I currently have an o/r x pipe on my mustang with a bullitt cat back exhaust and passCalifornia emissions with no problem.

My Mustang does the same thing. If im like.. going along in second and i slow down a little.. then let the speed drop of a little, then give it a little juice the car jerks kinda and ticks... whatever. Everything is wrong with my car, endless problems. Endless.

+1 i have the same problem with 'clunk' sound. i thought it sounded more like grinding gears though. but i had the same problem with my stick jetta too. i was thinking clutch or flywheel....let me know too by pm please. if you fix it....adahy

my tranny clunks also. had it checked a few times but couldnt find anything. i have had the car 4 yrs and i drive the sh** out of it and it hasnt broke anything. you kinda get use to it. or atleast i have.

I think it just catches rough. Ride the clutch.. it won't do it.

Oh by the way.. it's not your clutch (to everyone experiencing the "clunk") because.. I got a brand new Clutch put in. It still does it, k.

Ok i got it check out ,it s a throw out bearing which only will get louder so that s what most likely is or the drive shaft for you .
but that just the reason get a new clutch kit
what s should i get ?

Yea, that figures. I heard that actually just a few minutes ago somewhere else.. I just live with stuff like that now. Maybe someday if I put in a new tranny.
