Default Noise??

I have a ticking noise coming from my motor, it doesnt sound like the video on the forumbut kind of like a diesel engine but not as loud. I dont know if it is normal or something going wrong other than that it runs fine. Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same sound. In my case it was caused because I did not fully tighten down the crank pully and the crank position wheel was scraping on the timing cover. Which sent alumanium shaving into my oil pan and destroyed my bottom end.

Anyway you can tell before that happens because i took my piggyback style UDP off but i torqued the crankshaft pulley to 60 ftlbs but that has been about 2 months ago at least.

You could remove your oil pan and see if you have some alumanium shavings in there if so clean it out. Because when I tried just draining my oil none of the metal came out.

Sounds like valvetrain noise to me. Downed/not fully pressurizing lash adjuster, cam follower noise, or timing chain guides ticking/not pumping up fully.

What is the easiest way to see if it is valvetrain noise, also I got to thinking if it was the crankshaft pulley wouldnt it leak? I got a buddy who works for ford and used to do the engine repairs i might get him to look at it today hopefully.

It doesnt do the noise when the motor is cold which to me it would more apparent when it is cold.

Thicker oil would help hide the symptoms of a downed lash adjuster. As the oil warms up it would seep out more easily and being thinner it would be more apparent. Just food for thought.
