Default 2v & 4v

So in a 2 valve there are the 2 valves coming off of each head 1 exhaust 1 intake. In a 4v 2 exhaust 2 intake. So if I get some 4v heads would that work or what would I have to swap out to get it to work.

You will need new headers, a new timing cover, a new intake, manifold, new throttle body a new CAI and new valve covers just to list a few things.

You will also need a new fuel map.

Well if you want the heads to work you need to do all of those things. And by fuel map I mean a complete tune.

Sooo, if I was looking to upgrade my heads for under 2,000 self installed that would not be the way to go. And also what would you recommend.

I would say if you are looking for power buy a supercharger. You can run low boost and still have more of a gain than you would get with the 4v heads.

I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure you can't bolt on 4 valve heads to our short block, the pistons are made for it so the valves will hit the piston, just what I've heard though. Also just for clarification 2v per cylinder, not per head

thats what I'm doin also, although probably much slower than you, s/c is the way to go but if you're absolutely against it then go full bolt ons, which includes new intake manifold, cams and you can have you heads ported and polished with a 5 angle valve job. All that is going to cost serious $$$$ but if you really want to stay n/a then thats the way to go.

Total list to swap to 4v heads
heads
cams
timing set
timing cover
intake
altenator and bracket
exhaust manifolds/headers
TB
engine wiring harness
custom tune
fuel rails
injectors
valve covers

Yes the 4v heads will bolt right up to our stock 2v shortblocks. GT pistons (99-04) are 17cc dished and 4v (99-01) ate 10cc. There is no clearance problems. If you know what your doing and what to buy it will cost under $1500 if you don't and your asking this question you will be looking at alot more.
