Default Considering Exhaust Upgrade

Hi all I am considering upgrading my stock exhaust. I have a totally bone stock 1998 GT Convertible. New to the whole mustang thing so I figured I would ask the experts

I like the way flowmaster 2 chambers sound. Anybody have a cheap source for cat back flowmasters systems?

Also I am considering an o/r x pipe. I found a mac and a pypes on ebay pretty cheap ($160ish including shipping). What is the performance and sound difference between an x-pipe and a h-pipe? Is there really that much of a difference in brands or do they all pretty much sound the same regardless of brand?

Also I see that both of those x-pipes have fittings for o2 sensors. I have read that you need a MIL??? I don't understand why you would need a special o2 eliminator kit if the fittings are there?

Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated

If I were you I would not get an off road mid pipe. It's just not worth it nowadays with the high flow cats and all. You can't pass emissions with it and all you are getting is probably 1-2 more hp without cats. Just not worth it.

i love my o/r pipe... go with an o/r-x with flowmaster 40 series! my set-up and sounds great, just keep the stock mid pipe around for emissons, its a 15 minute job to swap em out...

I don't get why you would want to deal with that, even though it may be an easy swap and stuff. Your just gaining 1-2 HP and you need to make sure you have your stock one for emissions and just all that trouble. Also why do you wanna do your part at polluting the enviroment

I live in Michigan. We don't have emissions testing here.

That's exactly what I want to do.

I was just wondering what the difference was between x and h pipes, and also if anybody knew of a cheap source online. I can get the pypes beast setup for around $375 but I'm not satisfied with the way it sounds. I'd rather go flowmaster 40 series.
