I have a 97 Mustang GT 5-speed and sometimes it wants to grind going into reverse... even if i let it sit for 20 seconds... am I too rough on it maybe? is this commong in the 4.6L t45's?

mine does it too. have no idea what causes it. ive even had the tranny rebuilt (not for that reason lol). still does it. i've just learned to live with it.

how can you tell you need a new transmission?... its just reverse... nothin else... clutch is strong... tranny feels strong... whats average cost of tranny rebuild?

got mine for like 560-600 (dont exactly remember) parts and labor. thats on the cheap side but it is a reputable shop in town. that's also me pulling it out and taking it to them. a buddy of mine spent over 4K to have his done but he just went in dropped off the keys and had them do everything. that also included a really freaking expensive clutch and pressure plate.

its a t-45 they're pretty ****ty transmissions....


check into a 3550 or a tko500 and your issues will disappear
