stroked = more cubic inches
destroked = less cubic inches

destroked also like to rev alot higher.

Besides revving higher, what is the point of destroking? Does it make less power than a stroked motor?

A destroked motor can rev higher (good on N/A engines). A longer stroke means higher piston speeds, which is very hard on rod bolts and other internal parts.

Stroked = torque
destroked = rev happy(usually more top end)

10inch terror has a destroked 5.4 that revs to 11k

Shorter stroke means it revs quicker also....and what defcon said usually higher revs due to less rotating mass. It all depends on what you are using the motor for. Whether it be road racing or drag racing one will not produce the expected results of the other.

Stroke = The action of a piston traveling the full length of its cylinder in one direction.

If you add stroke to an engine you increase the cubic inches. It's also harder on your internals. But adds more power.

a ford 302 is a ford 289 but with a longer stroke.

A chevy 350 destroked is a 327, or a dz302.

An engine with a shorter stroke has less rotating mass, smaller stroke, less stuff inside the engine to spin, so they are easy to spin faster. making higher RPM's.

RPM and Power are linear, the faster you spin the more power your going to make.

A stroked engine has low rpm torque though, they just drive completely differently.

too much stroke can get very unreliable and not very durable because of all the pressure your creating.

on the other side the higher the RPM, the more your putting your valve train to the test.

Destroking would be a performance naturally aspirated engine.
