what would cause missing a shift?

Drain it and fill it.

Or take it to a Jiffy Lube and trust that they actually change it.

Alot of people will tell you to get a shifter, but the problem here is you. Not to offend you but, youre gettin ancy and messing up the shift... IMO you need to learn how to drive, then upgrade the shifter... and Im not talking down, I did the same thing.. when I first started i would jam 3rd - but the problem was me, not the shifter. I have a tri-ax now, Ive used mgw, roush and pro 5.0 - get the cheapest one available when the time is right they are all about the same. I just think its silly to upgrade a part when your not capable of really taking advantage of the upgrade by using it as a bandaid, which as you progress in mods (as we all do will cost you later on... thats my .02

and if its the synchros then sorry for the lecture, but frankly half of the wanna be Andrettis out there cant drive, and no being a good driver is not just spinning wheels and slamming gears... anybody can do that
