Default Recommendation for power steering coupler

So for my intercooler install, I had to relocate the power steering cooler using extension hoses provided by Procharger. It uses a plastic male/male coupler and two hose clamps to connect the old hose to the extension. Worked fine for quite a while, but now it blows the coupler off after very limited driving, causing a loss of power steering fluild and therefore power steering and power brakes. What would be a better way to couple these two rubber 5/8" hoses? Is the plastic coupler just too slick and needs to be replaced by a metal coupler?
