Default Relocating second temp sensor

This is what is giving me the biggest problem right now. I have heard that you can take out the drain plug in the side of the block and put the second temp sensor there but it sticks out too far and won't allow for the motor mount to bolt back up. I have read a few things involving a tee fitting but it isn't completely accurate. So i guess the only option left is to drill the crossover which i didn't want to do. Oh yeah, i wasn't able to just swap over crossovers because they are different and the bolt holes will not line up. So can someone give me the measurements of the size drill and tap i need to get this done? Also, ballpark, how much would it cost to have a machine shop do this for me? thank you so much.

Tell me if this would work. now this is what i got from reading my chilton and we all know how crappy those things can be sometimes. okay there are 2 sensors and the one on the right is the actual ECT sensor and the one on the left (on the npi crossovers) is just the ECT sending unit. I have an autometer electric water temp gauge that i am installing before i finish my headswap, so if i took the original ECT sensor connector and extended the wires so it would reach the far hole and then put my new sending unit that came with my gauge in the block drain plug hole with my wires just run to the new sender. Would this work? i know my original gauge wouldn't work but is that all that sensor does is send to the instrument cluster? or does it actually control other things. I am hoping the other sensor(in the crossover) is what controls everything. Hopefully this makes sense.

I feel your pain man? I have an 03 and just put the T-fitting in. It is not the best set-up because you don't get the cross flow of current that the original sensor got when it was in the path of the coolant but I'll have to live with that. I know on my version you have to leave the original sensor in because the computer uses it to adjust timing and some other things depending on what temp the sensor is reading?

The one sensor that pissed me off the most was the oil pressure one. I wasted some money on some t-fittings and elbows and still couldn't get that son of a ***** to work(tight fitting area). I was pissed when I finally noticed an extra port at a 90 degree angle to the original one staring at me when I was jacking around with that ****.

3/8"-18 NPT is the tap size, you will need to use a 37/64" drill bit (or a 9/16" since it's more common).
