Default Input on the Romeo Block vs. Windsor block

I am building a motor from the base up and was looking for some input on what people felt about the Romeo block and the Windsor block options for the 4.6L SOHC. Any input would be awesome - Thanks everybody!

assuming iron blocks.both are good block, with the windsor though you can just drop in a forged cobra crankshaft with out machining the block for that crank, the romeo will have to be notched. sean hyland has done a lot of testing on both block, in his book he sided with the windsor b/c it had more webbing in the engine valley and on the side of the block. you should definitely check it out, i bough one at barn&noble. great info on a build.

That is why I have always said sean hyland is a tool. They are the exact same castings, no extra webbing. I have an 04 gt with a romeo block and a cobra crank and it had no clearance problems at all. The romeo blocks from 96-98 do have some clearance issues with cobra cranks but not all of them. I have always used 01+ romeo blocks on my builds.

Either one is good. They both will handle the same amount of hp.

SHM ****ing tards.

Buddy of mine bought one of there long blocks about 4 years ago. He ordered it with 8.5:1 compression, blower cams, and ported heads. I think it was about 10k to the door. Shows up with stock compression, stock PI cams, and stock PI heads.

so did he send that block back?
im assuming they were comparing the older romeo with the windsor with the machining of the block to accept a cobra crank.

Either block will withstand up to ~800rwhp without issues. The older Romeo blocks required clearancing of the #3 bulkhead to clear the center counterweights of a cobra crank. The late model Romeo's and the Windsors do not require this.
