I had this same problem with my mustang. There is a camshaft sensor I replaced it 3 times and the light kept coming on for the same code. I would put the part on clear the code drive around the corner and bam right back on. Come to find out my alternator had something to do with it. Good luck.

I had forgotten about that, EMI/RFI from a failing generator can inject noise into the CMP sensor's signal...

If the code comes back immediatly after clearing it. Try removing the serpantine belt and restarting the car and see if the code comes back. If the code doesn't come back. then your alt. is at fualt. Also DPFE sensors have been known to cuase signal interferance and generate codes as well.

Default Been there...

After changing cam sensor twice (and having the code pop up again and again) I did some research and found that the alt could be the problem. After I changed it no issues.

Hope this helps.

yep, had that problem too and after alot a reading and head scratching i found out that the voltage regulator was the problem - a bad diode or something....
