181 Fuel Temperature Sensor A Circuit
#12
You piqued my curiousity as to where the EFT sensor might be, and you know what?
It is supposed to be on the fuel rail (#6 in the 1st attachment), and look like the unit in the second attachment; but I'll be damned if I see anything like that on my rails?

yeah, I see the big sensor on the drivers side fuel rail, but it's not throwing any codes now.
After I changed the filter the 181 code hasn't popped back up.
I've just got some nasty rattling at about 4500 RPMs. Sounds like detonation.

The big sensor on the driver's side is the FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure sensor). Glad to here the code is gone, hopefully it will stay that way.
Detonation is bad, you need to get the car data logged so the cause can be determined...

A Ford dealer can do it, a local speed shop could probably do it. Or you could buy a data logger...
Are you sure the car does not have a custom tune? Unfortunately there really isn't any way of finding out without reading the loaded tune and comparing it to a known stock tune for your box code.
Are you running premium fuel (93 if you can get it)? Shouldn't need to with a stock tune, however if the cars has a custom tune you may need to.
