Default Exhaust question

Hey guys, My tips are all worn out, and one of them doesn't even match. So I picked up some tips pff craisglist for $25, but I want your guys' opinions on how to install them.

Just the pipes with the tips, not the mufflers.

Should I cut just the tips off each and weld them on? Will there be room to weld them on without taking the exhaust off the car? I Have a friend who is a welder, but no lift. So what ever is done will have to be done on the ground.

Do you mean JUST the tips or the PIPE with the tips?

I suppose you could just cut the tips off while it's on the car and then weld the bottom of the new ones. Ideally you should take it off.
Just get a new cat back, the stocker is lame.

Ha ha I cant afford new cat back right now, thats why i got these. Right now my left tail pipe looks old and worn out and the right one doesn't even match. Before I got the car someone hit the rear end, and they replaced the tip with the wrong one.

And its the whole pipe with the tips that I have. The tips themselves aren't in that bad of shape, I just gotta polish em up a bit. So my best bet is to tut the tips off where they connect to the pipe? Will I have enough clearance to wqeld the tips on, without taking the pipes off?

You really can't get the stock cat back out without cutting it.

you could cut the tips off the pipes you bought with a few inches of pipe on them, then stick a pipe expander inside to try to open it up. then cut off you old tips and slide the new ones over the old pipe. then undo all the hangers and un-bold the rubber isolator that holds the tip up under the rear bumper, should give you some slack on the exhaust to run a weld bead on the top of the pipe to get a good seal. like mustang man said, you cant get the stock one off unless you cut it off or drop the rear diff. (not worth the effort.) good luck.
