HOfibertrends makes a damn good hood and they are on sale for 3 more days. They are fiberglass and weigh about 22lbs I believe.

How much does the stock one weigh, I've had mine off a couple of times and it feels pretty heavy, but it could have just been that it was award to hold.

^^^^ The stock hood weighs 36 pounds. I weighed it on a scale when I swapped hoods. Mercy is about right...the HO Fibertrends was about that weight...can't remember now...but it was over 20 lbs though I remember that...but he is close. I think they use that weight in their literature on their website if I am not mistaken? I just remember weighing that damn stock piece...about took a **** when I found out how much it really weighed compared to as what it felt like it weighed...lol. I weighed myself and then the hood in hands and stepped back onto the scale...using my trusty brain calculator and that is what I come up with. You're right it does feel more heavy than a mere 36 pounds but when you try handling it yourself...unless you have some long arms...it's little awkward to handle impo.

If the stock stang hood bothers you, the Termi hood is about as sexy as you can get. Also, I love 03fststng's cowl hood.

Kaenen is one of the lighter aftermarket hoods. Great quality and fit too!

I assuming a lift off hood is the lightest of them all?

Here is an "interesting" new type of hood. You can see if your engine needs cleaning
