You can use your stock GT PCM, however you will need to delete the IMRC's on the Cobra engine.

PATS will be an issue, but since you will need a tune after the swap, the tuner can turn of PATS.

PM BraMas. He did the swap and while I was considering doing the swap myself I had a lot of questions and he was very helpful.

if its a stock engine you can just get a canned performance tune for a 96-98 cobra. I would call Lasota racing and talk to Don. He will need to disable the IMRC motor in the computer tune as well.

I'd get a tune at a shop just to be safe. Thats what I did when I swapped my 96 cobra motor in, just so the car is there and you can give the guy tuning it any info he may need or any questions you may have. I dont know what PATS is but I guess my tuner guy took care of it fine.

You can turn the PATS off in the tune, that may have been the tuners solution.

Also, if he is using a stock cobra motor with stock 24lb injectors there is nothing wrong with a mail order tune. They could even load a stock cobra base tune with the IMRC's disabled. This would run just like a stock cobra (minus the IMRC control)

Just use the stock GT computer and make your own IIRC deletes. It's as easy as sunday morning. You'll be fine with running the GT tune BUT you wont get the most out of it until you get a 4v tune, custom or stock.

You think a 96-98 cobra motor will run just fine on a GT tune?

I agree making you own IMRC deletes out of the stock IMRC plates is easy as pie.

The Cobra engine runs 24 lbs injectors, so the 2V tune will not work well.
