I'm sorry to hear about your father.

I know a 4.6 swap will be very extensive. I think you would not only have to change the motor but lots else like the driveshaft and probably the rear end and what not. It will be expensive. Your car has sentimental value to you and so I wouldn't risk messing everything up in the middle and rendering the car unable to run. I would just keep it the way it is.

your best bet is going to be is find a wrecked 99+ gt mustang. This way you get the engine, mounts, harness, pcm,. Also will have the trans and rear diff since the v6 stangs came with 7.5 rear diff wouldn't be a bad idea to swap in the 8.8 from a gt.

+1 this is probably gonna be the best option. Maybe find one thats been hit badly at the back so you can get it for cheaper. That way the front end is in good condition and all you need to do is to find a working rear end which usually isn't too expensive.

it shouldn't be a probelm finding a wrecked or non running gt. Try junkyarddog.com.

You could be different and just forge and supercharge your V6

Is this going to remain a daily driver?

If not go carbed small/big block.Much cheaper and more bang for the buck.

If you are dead set on a 4.6 and money is no thing go with an 03-04 terminator. Then you get the best of both worlds descent fuel economy and great power.

But for the amount of work thats going to go into this to pull it off isnt going to be worth some run of the mill stock 4.6.

Get a beater to drive every day and make the sixer a carbed big block monster!
