Depends on the cams. You will need new timing gears as well because you have a Windsor engine. But you may also need new valve springs if you go with a stage II cam.

cams are pretty expensive, and like defcon said, you would need to upgrade the supporting components as well. without a full exhaust you probably wont see a whole lot of rwhp pickup from the $$ you drop. you really only need a real tune if you drastically change something about the way your car runs....supercharger, turbo, cams, nitrous, longtubes.

so then no.....you dont need to waste money on a custom tune, that'll be the most expensive 10hp ever.

I agree with everyone. Wait!! I bought my cams from Comp cams. Talked to a guy named Mike. He told me everything that I would need and it cost me right around $900.00. Just the sound of the car at idle is worth the money. Got a local Mechanic to install my shorties and cams and he charged me $800.00.

i say do it.. our friends tunes and runs his own business, he tunes with the sniper software. my friends 02 gt had tb plenum k&n intake 90 mass air shorty headers x pipe and slp mufflers. when he first dyno it 225 rwhp. then he tuned it and he got 261 with 301 torque. is the tune safe yes. the tune just helps ur mods respond better and help the computer recognize them. im not a tuner but i do like to watch and learn stuff. so mine is going on sat with my new setup down below.
