Default cylinder running with the injector not plugged in?

Ive been having issues with my car mis-firing. So I had this strange idea. I decided to disconnect the fuel injector in the cylinder 2 so that it does not pump fuel into the cylinder. Now im curious if whether this is a really bad thing to do?

With the injector plugged in, it seems to misfire really bad.

When its not plugged in, which is how it is now, it only misfires or hesitates when the service engine light is flashing. So how bad is it to have a cylinder running without the injector plugged in.

By the way, the misfire is probably the coil, but I have not got around to changing that. I already changed the spark plugs.

now the smart thing to do would be to pull the code, see why exactly its missing, and work from there... if its just a single cyl ****in up, try swaping things around... cops and such, if the miss moves to a diff cyl well you know what it is

If you just unplugged the injector then the computer is still telling it to spark with air and no fuel, that doenst sound like a good idea, plug it back in and read the code as dimebag said. autozone/advanced can read them if you dont have a handheld tuner of your own.

Fix the known problem then go from there.

Was it the coil or the boot? If you're feeling froggy, replace the new boot onto the old Coil and i'm willing to bet a can of Booty Juice that it was the boot and not the coil.

Unless of course this all started cause you washed your engine and got carried away with the sprayer/
