Default Rear Gears?

First let me say hello. I am new to the board and this is my first post. I just bought a automatic 98 GT with 47K miles on it. It is Burg. with Black lether int. I have been into imports for a while now i had a 2002 maxima that ran low 14s but the car was not holding up very well. This car is a project for me and my dad. i have a lot of friends with mustangs so they like to offer there advice but i would like to get out side opinions. Ok so here is my question i would like to buy gears for my car and was wondering what the best option would be, the car will be daily driven but also taken to the drag strip on the weekends. Also what would be the best option as far as a transmission and a stall.

thanks
Rob

Well for an automatic id say 3:73's would do good. Not to sure about the stall.

3.73 is what i have been looking at and the is what every one is saying will work best. I for got to mention that i want to get a S/C set up some time soon so that is a factor as well.

thanks

Everyone seems to say that if you are going to go with a s/c then 3.73 is the right way to go. I am installing a s/c and I have 3.90's (and a manual tranny). I have a video of a guy running an 11.47 1/4 mile with a stock block/tranny and a mongoose s/c kit from MPH. He's got 4.10's and he actually lifts the front tires about an inch off the ground when he launches.....cool as all hell.

If you are going to use nitrous or a S/C 3.73s would be good, otherwise go with 4.10s for an automatic.

guy on this board, md, is running 4.10s with his blower. i believe he's even said he wants 4.30. i say get 4.30 and get it over with. i got 3.73s and wish i got 4.10. i'm not spending another $500 to get new gears though.
