Default Full throttle shift...

Hello, I have a 2000 GT with a 4R70W rebuild and when I engage WOT - the 1st gear cycles fine but the 2nd gear stays at 4000rpms for a second before it goes up and shifts.

All other gears cycle fine - is there an issue with WOT and the 2nd gear? It also cycles fine at 90% throttle.

Automatic trans? Put your foot on the floor and steer it.

So then it is hassitating to go into 2nd?... The 1st to secound shift should be from 6K rpms in first to about 3.4K in 2nd. So is it going from 6K in first down to 4K and then back to 6K as it shifts into 2nd? If it is doing somthing like that, that is probably a mechanical problem. Has it been doing this ever since it was rebuilt?

Well first flys though the RPM's as it should WOT and the computer shifts it at 5500rpm - when she grabs second - she pauses at exactly 4000rpm while in 2nd gear and then moves back up to 5500 and shifts into third.

She just shfts into 2nd, sits at 4000 then moves up and shifts into third - but why just second? This never happend before the rebuild. At first I just thought that it was pausing because I thought maybe they replaced that gear and it needed broken in.

So then in other words you are not getting 2nd? That is definetly a mechanical issue. If you put it in 2nd manually and cruise at about 3K and you step on it does it appear to be slipping, or in other words its getting to redine before you have accelerated up to about 70ish? That would be a bad sprag and it is a costly repair. I just had that happen to my car. Mine is basically shot and doesn't even shift into 2nd at all...

No - all gears function - while in second it pauses at 4k for a sec before reving up. I havent noticed it in WOT and OD/off though. I think it might be a computer issue or something having to to with the rebuild/stall converter.
