Post Internals

I want a supercharger but do not know if i need to change any internals. Can i just install the supercharger with stock internals?

silverpony41 read this thread, we just covered this. It should help in your search. But the answer is no you do not need forged internals to run low amounts of boost (8-10 psi). Stock internals can handle up to 375-400rwhp and be safe. Anymore then that and you will have to go with a forged rotating assembly (crank, pistons, and rods). The block if iron can handle around 800hp. These decisions are based on your budget, hp goals, and what you are going to use the car for. If I had it to do again I would have had my internals replaced first and sprayed the hell out of it till I had the money to do the supercharger. But I couldnt wait so I have stock internals and a procharger. I am happy with it. Ready for more though.

you will get mixed reviews. some forge and some don't. the safe smart way is to forge it. that way you have room to go when you want to run a little higher boost. a forged bottom end is the foundation of a well built engine, don't build it backwards.

I say run boost and set money aside for when you do blow the motor.... That way you have an excuse to build! :-)

I'm on the side of boost now, forge later and be happy with 370-380 rwhp (435-450 at the crank). But it all depends on your budget. With installation costs a supercharger will run about $5,000-6,000 and you get near 370 rwhp. Having the motor built will run around $5,000-6,000 and you get 235 rwhp. Which would you rather drive?

Besides, you have to do a lot more to the car than just buy forged internals and a supercharger to make big horsepower.

There are a lot of options to do with 5,000 dollars. I wish i knew what i wanted but i dont cuz this is my first stang. For that i can buy a bigger engine i mean there is so much to do but very hard to decide. Is the 4.6 2 valve worth adding horsepower to, or for 5,000 should i order one of fords racing engines. I got the money to do what i want but when it comes to the mustang i do not know squat about it. I love it and i hate vettes. Can i make that 4.6 a vette killer? I fell like if i need nos then my engine is weak. Nos is no option for me.

First, you will get a lot of hell for saying "nos"....nos is a brand. nitrous oxide or n2o haha.

You can make it a vette killer for sure. It all boils down to what your final hp plans are. In retrospect, i should have bought a 4 valve, threw a forged whipple on it with a throttle body and exhaust, and call it a day knowing not much out there can be faster.
