Default Possible U-Joint Problem?

I have noticed lately that if I let my car kinda lug in 5th gear, at about 45-50, if I punch it I hear a "clunk" before it accelerates. Could this be a u-joint going bad or is it the fact that I'm just stuipdly lugging the car? Thanks!

I think its just because you're lugging the car.

well you can get under your car and grab onto the drive shaft and twist it back and for and see it the u-joints are moving at all. Grab your pion shaft while you do this too and hold it as still as you can. There should be no play in the u-joints.

If it is a single clunk when you punch it in 5th gear that is normal. Ford had a TSB about it, there is no way to fix that as far as I am aware.
