Default need advice on replacing my engine

HI all, So im replacing my engine due to a messed up rod situation. Its my daily drive so while i learn how to rebuild it, ill be putting in either a new engine or short block. a few questions to anyone who can give me some advice:
1. if i buy a short block, how difficult is it to transfer my heads to the new short block? I hopin to keep the cam in place and 10 new bolts and gaskets and they're on, then timing chains...is that too simple? i can do alot but i've personnaly never messed with heads and valves.
2. anyone know where to get a good short block or long block for a reasonable price. (Im hopin this doesn't eat up all of Xmas)
3. i've seen "crate" motors on ebay for around $3000.00. With 110,000 mi on my 2002 mustang gt, would this be a better way to go?

im lookin for opinions from people who know before i make this purchase so anything is helpful.

The most economical way to get your car going is to go to a salvage yard and buy a used engine. They usually come with a 30 day warranty.

depends on what you want and your goals and your abilities.... imo youll almost always get a better deal on forged internals from a local shop, but I would swap to a 4v while I was at it.

The two main questions that play a factor are, 1. How much is you're budget for this project. 2. Do you plan on modifying you're mustang for power gains. If you simply just want to leave you're mustang fairly stock and are not concerned with modifications just try and find a replacement stock motor. If you plan on modding it in the future you may want to consider a forged shortblock or motor swap.
