Anyone Interested in Hand
Hey All,
Was wondering if there are any corner carvers out there? I know the Mach 1 makes a great drag car, but with a few mods it also makes a pretty good road racer as well.
Anyone modified their Mustang 4.6 or Mach 1 to handle? What struts/shocks/springs/sways did you use? What weight springs (ie:450lbs etc.) What wheel & tire combination? Currently I am leaning towards either Koni or Tokico Illuminas, with H&R springs 450lb front and 250lb rear. This seems to be the most cost efficient route. Any experts out there? What about alignment specs?
Anyone interested in going to a road race course like Laguna Seca, Infineon (Sears Point) or Thunderhill? Let me know cause I'm anxious to start ripping on those Rice Boys

I think a set a adjustable sway bars are a good addition to the handling package. My thoughts are that the Mustang will have a tendnenmcyt to push in hard cornering so a sway bar set up will help a lot.
I too am interested int eh H & R Super Sports. I am deciding not based upon the lowering height, but rather the spring rates. In the "olden days" we used to put 620lb spring up front and 200lb leaf springs onthe rear of 65-68 Mustangs...pretty decent. I wnat to make sure witht he H & R Super Sports, that I am not sacrificing "ride" for handling, meaning I do not want a "track" only set up..but a compitent "street" set up that I can also occationally thrash at the track.
The Tokico Illuminas look like a good buy. I have used them on Miata's with some success. Maybe combining those shocks with H & R Super Sports and a good set of sway bars will give me a good base to start with.
Hey guys, what type of wheel and tires are you running? I am going with Cross RoadZ Saleen replicas in 18 x 9 in black chrome with Toyo RA-1 tires 275-35-18 all around.
Hey any of you guys local to Silicon Valley? If so we should hook up...

Hey Aaron...Great name BTW I too was interested in the Y2k wheels, actually really liked the Kenne Bell black chrome ones except they were $345.00 each!!! 18 x 9.5. Performance Wheel Outlet has them in plain silver for $729.00 a set of 4, but after getting them bead blasted and powder coated, I'd be into it for almost as much as the Kenne Bell prices, not enough $ saved going that route. I happend to check out www.crossroadz.com and I liked the black chromed Saleen wheels and their prices were really reasonable...although the choices in size was 18 x 9 and 18 x 10. I went with 18 x 9's all around, although I might change to 18 x 10 on the rears later on depending on how my suspension set up comes out. I'm running Toyo RA-1's 275-35-18.

Mustangs aren't really portayed to be great handlers, but my lil 95 with the stock sway bars rear and in the engine bay takes corners like she's on rails. Back roads around here are really trecherous, so I drove them for about a day to memorize stuff. The flipped her into 4th at 60 and had the time of my life, it was great. I have nothing done suspension wise either, save for some nice rubber.
