Default Cheapest tire that will fit 17x8 rim?

I have to get atleast two new tires, I just failed inspection. This car is a daily driver and I don't need any performance from the tire. The car is stock except fowmasters. I don't even care what they look like. So what is the skinniest tire that will fit a stock 99 cobra rim (17x8)? I'm assuming the skinniest is the cheapest. I'm not looking for a shorter or taller tire, since I don't want to screw up my speedo.

For those of you that think I making my car sissy, don't worry, this is just to keep the car operational. I'm half-way done with law school, when I'm done the car goes under the knife. I plan on a full rebuild and a helion tt, t-56, and tubbing the rear and putting some huge tires on back, not sure how big yet, but big enough it will need to be tubbed.

Please include in your answer, if you have one, tire size, price, where to buy it, and opinion of the tire.

Let the comment roll!

Maybe I wasn't clear. I want a tire that is cheaper than the stock size tire if possible. I already found the cheapest 245/45/17, I'm looking for other cheaper options.

I'm in Houston, TX but thanks for the offer.

What I'm wondering is if there is a skinnier tire that will fit a 17x8 rim since skinnier tires are usually cheaper. I'm looking for a non-performance tire that will fit the rim and not throw off my speedo.

No problem
maybe a 225/45/17 or 235/45/17 will fit, would be tight.

I never understood putting cheap tires on a car. They are the only part of you car that touches the ground. If I had to spend money on any part of my car and only that part, it would be tires.

I don't uderstand how people get side tracked so easily and confuse their own goals with mine. I use this car to drive to school and back for now and that's it. I just want to pass inspection and be able to drive the car for another two years and then it's performance time and I'll put good tires on it.
