Are 315's too much tire for me?

If you think sumis get traction then I can't take anything you say seriously. Maybe better than bald 245 Nitto's.

I am just saying that most people on here are fine with 275's. They just do 315's for the looks. I would take traction and a 275 anyday over 315 and looks.

I'm not talking about cheap *** 315 sumi's you can get for a 100 bucks off of tire rack, which I have had. All they do is increase the thread gaps on the bigger sizes. Look at these big *** thread gaps. I agree if you buy this brand of tire, you're only concerned about the looks. I sold mine 2 weeks later.

I have had or tried at the track all 3 of these DR's in a 275 and the 315's. Mt's, Nittos, and BFG's. There is an average of 2 tenths lees in my 60's, and 3-4ths in my quarter going to a 315 over a 275. If you save a 10th in your 60' it it's almost good for double on the other end.

If you have the power then it is worth it. Plus for people that think if they have 315's and they can dump the clutch and bang the gears causing them break lose, that some how it means you have enough to justify it. You could do that with a slick. You still have to modulate the gas and clutch pedal, just not as much. Now as stated earlier I think the 315' sumi's are worse the stock 245's lol. If you have under 350rwhp the added traction benefit will be offset by the loss of acceleration do to the amount of rotational weight you've added.

mvr, nice car. i'm not buying the 315's for traction, but more for looks since i dont really get my car to the track. im going to just get the sumitomo 315's. I actually did read that 275 or 285's hook better than a 315 for some reason. in terms of handling i've heard that 315's with 275's handle nice, but people say that they dont "like how 275's track" . . . whats that mean?

my stock 245's honestly dont give traction worth anything. . . they spin first gear almost any time i floor it, 2nd gear for at least up to 4k rpm. what about a nitto nt555r? im guessing that those would be a much better tire?

lol, those sumi's look rediculous... 315's with tiny contact patch weeee
I just bought some 10.5" wheels, I like that the sumi's are cheap but screw that. I dont drive it very far at all anyways, so I think I can do some 555r's and have them last long enough.

I went to discount tire and they quoted me something like 180/per for the nittos. They have some BFG drag radials I can get for 177/per but idk how good those are.

If you do get nittos, do not buy 555Rs for all 4 corners

555s for the front, 555R for the rear..

As far as traction MT's>BFG's>NITTO's
As far as wear NITTO's=MT's(in the newer thread pattern for modern cars in modern sizes)>BFG
As far as wet traction NITTO'S=MT"S(in the newer thread pattern for modern cars in modern sizes) >BFG's but not by much.

The old thread pattern MT's were terrible in the ran and use to have the about the same tire wear as BFG's. The new design made all the difference in the world. Here's a pic of the 315 MT's I had first in the 315. They handled very well also for being a DR. I had to go to BFG's because they were out of MT's for a long time. The MT's in the new pattern are my favorite by far.

Sorry cell phone pic.
