i wouldnt recommend blowing the filter, just wash it and let dry, then put alittle filter oil on it.

No problems here - actually runs a bit better in cooler temps FYI.

Ok I have a question about the BBK filters that come with this system. My system is an older system, with the pipe (that connects to the filter) bending into the fenderwell and then downwards so that the filter sits vertical in the fenderwell. I believe the fender is a "cotton element high-performance conical air filter" because it looks very similar to the ones on BBK's website. Do these filters need oil, such as a K&N filter? I took a good look at it while we were installing it, and it doesn't look like the filter has ever had oil on it.

Also my second question. With the filter sitting open in the fenderwell, won't it get wet on rainy days? The only protection it has is the plastic stock part of my Mustang that is between the filter space and the tire. Can these filters get wet? or do I need to cautious about driving in the rain? I know a couple of you guys posted that you drove in the rain & winter with 0 problems, but I don't know if that was with an oiled filter or not.

Thx.

In extreme situations you could get water droplets on it I think. It wouldn't cause any harm. My K&N sits poking into the fenderwell and H2O could hit it broadside if were going to. If you drive through enough rain/water/ice/snow to cause probs with it, you'll probably have bigger issues than a wet filter. That'd be my guess.

Anyone know about an "oil-less" filter on these BBK systems? My filter is a cone shaped one with a chrome bottom on it.... and it sure looks like it's never been oiled before.
