shifter question

Default shifter question

hi all i put this steeda shifter in my 99 stang. i bought it off this fourm ckeck the numbers with steeda they said it was the right one for the 99. well installed it and in a few days it wore out the bushing the the ball rides in well i put in another bushing and in two weeks the new bushing is wore out. well my question is am i the only one with this problem i dont understand any help would be great

What is the part number fo the shifter?

And what bushing is it, the one that snaps on to the shifter?

i dont have the number right now but it is that bushing that the shifter ball rides in but when i installed it it did not snap on maybe thats my problem

On your stock shifter there should be a plastic ball on the end. That snaps off and installs on the new shifter.

is that the piece?

ill have to check that out i did not know the ball snaps off. i put the stock shifter back in and ordered new bushing when i get it and take the shifter back out to replace it ill let you know thanks silver for the info

NP, that is a common issue when installing shifters on tremecs.

because what is happing is the steeda ball is not going far enough into the hole and is causing it to wear out that plastic bushing

Yes you need to pry the plastic ball off the stock shifter and install it on the new shifter. That will make it fit snug in the tranny.
