Default Which is better...

Would it be more of a benefit to A or B:

A: 31 spline axles, Diff, Slicks.

B: UCA, LCA, and run a Drag Radial.

My 60ft times are in need of improvement.

Also I run 1/8, and if I can get my 60ft times to 1.6 from a 2.2 what would the difference in the ET be

i would prob Do the 31 splines..my friend has a bullitt mustang and he got 3.37's put in at 120k and his axles were warped and his spider gears were loose as all. and his car doesnt even make probably 240rwhp. 31 spline FTW

That was my concern and if you are going to be launching hard with any type of drag radials and hoping to cut 1.6 short times, you are going to want to get some 31 splines asap!!! I was going to go with the control arms first but then i thought doing gears and 31 splines at the same time is gonna cost the same as the control arms that i want and i will probably benefit more from gears than control arms right now. So this is the order of what youre gonna want to do...31 splines, slicks, control arms. If you got the control arms and d/r's you would snap an axel on launch probably the first time you were out. Preparation for the future FTW!!!

That's what my concern was, I didnt want to snap an axel and then be screwed. I think instead of doing the suspension this winter I am going to bulletproof the rear and run a slick. I forgot to add gears to the list. I was thinking about running a 4.10, my installer said it wouldnt be to much.

3.73 gears FTW!!! 4.10's will be a bit too much for you to run. I mean 4.10's are N/A gears in my opinion. I would never go past 3.90's for F/I. Your gonna be shifting into 5th with a blower especially if you are running slicks and hooking off the line with 4.10's.

...I'd go with the 31 spline set-up & 3.90's....remember, the slick is going to grow (get bigger) as you go down the track! ...your 60' times will improve

31 spline FTW!

mike08: You would need a set of 31 spline axles along with the 31 spline differential.
and of course while you are in there, you just as well change the gears if you have not done so already.

Pull the axle off
pull cover off
take diff out
pull axles out and replace with 31 spline
Place new diff in housing
aligne everything and bolt up

way more is involved, this is just a general idea

31 spline axles, 31 spline diff, Master bearing kit, gears, axle seals and bearings, diff fluid, friction modifier, and I would get a new rear end cover as the stock one tends to leak and while your at it weld the axle tubes. That should do it
