Default help

ok guys,

99 gt 150k auto, exhaust, k&n

i have been battling these problems for almost a month now with no luck and a good amount of money spent.

symptoms: running rough, VERY low power on the top end. its decent right off the line but acts like its being retarded-held back etc when it gets to about 30mph and 3k rpm. it bogs down and doesnt want to move. o and it eats threw gas like its nothing.

it all started with a p0300 code and a cam shaft position sensor code. i was told that it was a problem with the alternator and the diodes. sure enough when i had the alt tested it had a bad diode. the new alt didnt fix it. but the cam sensor code went away.

so now i have a p0300 code and a po301 code, i replaced the coil on the # 1 cylinder and cleared the codes and both are still coming up and its running worse than ever!

Actions i have taken:

replaced the alt.

replaced the #1 coil and about 4 others in the past when they have gone out.

replaced all the plugs with good autolites.

had a shop run compression tests, all checked out ok.

did the can of starter fluid test to check for vacuum leaks.

took the EGR off and cleaned it out and let it soak in PB blaster to make sure it wasnt stuck.

i m getting reallllly frustrated with it and feel like i hit a brick wall with this car, i have completely ran out of ideas.

anybody that can shed some light on this would be a great help!

switch the number 1 injector with another and see if the misfire goes to that cylinder.

When you changed your coils did you use new plug boots? I'd say half of all bad COP's are really just bad boots arching to the head.

Have you had the engine W/H off the car? Check the main harness connection and make it's tight if you have. (passenger rear corner of the engine bay)

Tap your injectors (lightly) with a hammer and dowel to break up any build up or contaminates.

Are your plugs fitting tightly? Check for air getting past the plugs. (yes, it does happen)

ok it turned out to be a clogged cat caused by a misfire dumping gas and melting it down,

a bbk o/r x pipe fixed the problem
