Default Speed limiter removal

Ive searched around and cant seem to find out how to remove the top speed limiter on my 98 GT. I know there is one because right at 120 mph with my 4.10 gears, it shuts down.

When im at the track, i hit the speed limiter before i can even hit the finish line. Iv got an SCT 3 tuner and it doesnt have the choice to remove it. What else can i do?

you're trapping at 120mph with these mods?

It's in the tune, and the fact that it's there means the PCM/tune is from a car that was delivered without speed-rated tires...

BTW--with your mods certainly you have a tune? Also I suspect there is a typo in your signature. If you're hitting 120 before the traps, 19.20 seconds after the green light then your reaction time sucks...

The 19.20 is a joke, im trapping at 120 mph because of my 4.10 gears, its throwing my speedo off. I hit 120 in 4th gear and the car shuts down before i hit the line.

I do have a tune, its not a custom yet, its just a preloaded tune that came with the sct handheld tuner.

Your SCT tiner should let you fix the speedometer by telling it you have 4.10 gears and loading that tune. I also believe that the SCT tuner will let you disable the speed limiter...

This would be true on 99+ cars, for the earlier GTs we need either a new transmission gear or a speedcal to fix our speedo

I did not realise that the 1st version of the EEC-V PCM firmware did not have the axle ratio and tire size scalars--just looked it up and sure enough....
