Default Timing chain tensioners

How do I releive the tension on them? Is it one of the bolts holding them on? I just don't want to take the chance of busting them.

Thanks.

take off the bottom guids. as easy as that. then if u want to take the chains completely off then you have to take the tensioner off.

sry i thought u were talking about the chain. there is alittle pin sized hole in the tensioner housing. u need to stick a pin or a small allen wrench in the hole. the piston in the tensioner is held up by a ratcheting system so by stickin the pin, or whatever fits in the hole, pushes the tab in thats holding the piston up. then u can push the piston down, buts its pretty trickey. Get a haynes manual it tells u everthing u need to know about it in there.
