i'll make it short and sweet.

some jerkhole stole the plastic hood scoop on my 99 gt. i was thinking about getting another hood anyways, but one of my buddies suggested i cut out the hole and put a mesh grille behind it and make it functional. i'm sort of hesitent to give the okay. i thought i'd ask around first and see what you guys thought

It really wouldn't be functional and would cause more of a problem than it would help hot air out. All it would do is let rain cascade on top of the engine and all the electronics that don't like to get wet, like the COPS and it will puddle in the plug wells.

Man that's gotta suck... I didn't know the hod scoop was so easy to take off. Hey man have you thought about going with the Mach 1 shaker system. I don't think it will give you all that much power but if you're set on a functional hood scoop this is most def the way I would go.

There's like 10 bolts holding the hood scoop down, someone had some time with the hood open, or they just ripped it off and ruined it in the process.

I love my shaker kit, I was able to piece it together for about $500 instead of the $700-800 that some of the companies want. You can see a small pic of it in the sig.

What numbers did you get after the shaker kit install? It does look a helluva lot better than the New Edge non functional scoop.

I cut my hood open and it does help cool the intake alot but mostly only at highway speeds. I have never had a problem with rain or water getting in there and sitting on the engine.

eh, its not really a power mod. To be honest I couldnt tell you what it added because it just got mocked up before I came back up to school. I would say it will give me about 5hp/4-5ftlbs if I had to guess. I just thought it would look sweet on my silver stang.
