we drive on streets, not prepped tracks
we dont take corners at 90mph
we dont go to the drag strip
the car is a DD not a f1 car

only reason i see needing good tire is so you dont spin when you try getting on it

other than that, i think $300 tires are a waste of money on a DD

They why buy performance parts and suspension for the street then?

You can get tires that are plenty nice enough for less than $300 a piece...

Nittos FTW, I bought a pair for 130 off Dicount tire direct to replace my balding KDW's. It was like night and day, you could push the car pretty hard without the tires breaking loose, worked good in the rain too nvr had any problems. Car's a non winter DD

Go to Tirerack.com and compare the Ultra-High Performance A/S tires and pick a pair that you like. Some are way below 120.00 each.

most people wont need super good tire because they dont push their tires to the limits.

the only time my tires get a workout is at the occasional red light

its just not logical to spend 1g on tires and only get 10-15k outta them, when you dont NEEED them and cheaper tire will suffice without losing alot of grip.

id love to get some dunlop direzza z1 star spec tires, but the bill is $994 for 4 shipped....

maybe i will come to the dark side and see if the grip outweighs the bill.....
who knows

Some of us Have the mods for the stripe But drive it a lot around the road. I know I have sumi's for dd driving cause I dont steet race and swing around corners as fast as I can. Then I take my good tires with me to the stripe. Then its a win-win you get cheap tires that ast for awhile on the street, and then you get good tires that last awhile for the strip(cause you only run them when your there).

Nice, those are probably gonna be my next set of tires all around if this deal I have made goes through.

"What are the best street tires?" + "I don't want to spend $150 per tire"

= FAIL

Love the logic here...
