Default Help me make more power!

Since I'm rebuilding my shortblock, I was thinking about adding a bit more power to my baby. However, here's the catch, I still have the non-pi heads although they have the pi cams on them. I thought about adding the anderson power pipe but based on the pictures I have seen it won't fit since I have a fluidyne radiator; so my other option is upgrading my 10 lbs pulley to a 12 lbs one. Would the stock non-pi heads and valve springs be enough to support 400 rwhp. Before the rebuilt it made 351 rwhp and that was with out the pi cams, so I'm guessing with the pi cams and a 12lbs pulley I would be close to the 400 mark.

I hate to beat on a dead horse here, but those heads are going to hold you back.. Even with PI cams its not much of an improvement.. Maybe if you went with some custom cams and a decent port job. I dont know if you have the motor together yet, but I'd atleast look for some PI heads to slap on there. Its your call in the end however...

Do you have an intercooler?

Yeah, I have the 3 core procharger intercooler. About the heads that's exactly what I was thinking. And no, I still haven't put together the engine, that's why I'm doing my homework before I do it.

Okay, thats a plus. Seriously tho, I'd look into some ported PI heads... or save up for the Trickflows that are never going to come out

If you can swing the $$, go for it. Why build a nice bottom end and slap boat anchors to them? Thats almost like building a nice 331 stroker and puttin E7s back on it (for you 5.0 guys )

So you guys never seen a non-pi headed mustang pushing 12 lbs? I wish I had the money, that way I wouldn't be asking so many questions and just buy some p&p pi heads. But the thing is that a pair of pi heads go for around $1000 vs $70 for the 12lbs pulley from procharger. My main concern is if I could get away by pushing the stock heads to its limit.

Screw PI heads, slap an 03-04 top end on there.

umm theres more to it then "slapping a 03-04 cobra top end on".....

yes i have seen boosted npi gt's WHOHOOOOO 300rwhp... you need to step up the heads are a MAJOR restriction. I would just save and do that.

Good luck.
