Default Headers and Midpipe Question

Hey guys. I plan on adding a set of LT headers and a X Pipe to my setup (obviously) but my question is: Is there really that much of a difference between different companies?

For example, I would Love to grab some SLP LTs with their X Pipe, but the Headers are 800 bucks... Is the difference really that big between those and say the BBK headers which are 300 bucks less?

Thanks guys

ide say the difference is in longevity more than actual performance gains. obviously an $800+ coated set will out last a $400 set with no coating and a little cheaper contsruction. and i think 99% of lt's out there use equal lenght tubes so i dont think thats an issue. i'm not an expert thats just wat ive gathered trying to decide the same thing as u.

Well BBK offers the ceramic coated which will help a lot in a preservation of them.. But I'm just stuck on if the SLP is more powerful or if its just a preference thing.

Kooks & ARH are the best. Sure the bbks & macs are cheaper, beacause they are only ceramic coated. Which means they will eventually rust from the inside-out. Kooks and ARH are 304 stainless steel which is the best grade stainless there is. The SLP's are 409 stainless which is ok. My buddy has SLP's on his Cobra and after 2 years there already starting to rust a lil. Do it once and do it rite, Kooks & ARH FTW!

My shop specializes in Mustangs for the past 18 years. The owner told me that Kooks and BBK's are the best hands down.(at least for the 99-04 models) One important thing to consider is that does your car see rain or salt? If it doesn't then the ceramic coated (ie. bbk) will probably last the life of the car. Otherwise i would do stainless steel

big names also have better quality pipes. i bought cheap ones and have had problems with them hitting the steering column. one tube had a hole in the bead, and messy beeds had to be ground down to install some of the bolts. major pain in the *** to install and they were knockoff hookers. ive installed mac lts very easily, at least imo. slp is over priced imho.

Pypes sell 304 stainless steel longtube headers for around $400, not sure on the quality though.

Think twice on the Pypes. I've heard several times from good sources that their fitment is a hit or miss kinda thing.
