Default Need Help...Drag Radials and Wheels Before the 7th.

My local track opens on the 7th, and I am way beyond sick of the lack of traction my street tires give me at the track. So I need to place in order at Jegs and get some wheels and tires for the track. I still have a stock rear, so slicks, or something to sticky is out of the question. I was thinking some Nitto 275/50/15 on some cheap wheels like Cragar. But I dont know for sure what backspacing I need. Or if even a Nitto is to much for the track. Even though the prep on test and tune days is usually poor. Any suggestion's? And could someone help me with the backspacing. I also have 17x10.5 on the rear of my car now, would a 315/35/17 Nitto be to sticky for the stock drive train?

The two I found in my size say rear spacing: 4 and the other says 4 3/4.

on a weld draglite or prostar the backspacing is 5.5 on a 8 inch rim and 6.5 on a 10 inch rim. i just bought and got them today 275/50/15 bf goodwrench t/a drag radial and they hooked up very well. i have the stock rear with 4.10s.

So I need a 5x4.5 Lug pattern, and 5.5 backing spacing. What rpm are you launching at? Also what psi does everyone recommend for Nitto's at the track?

Dude, pick up (2) 235/60/15 MT ET Streets, and find yourself some v6 wheels locally (you can get for dirt cheap)

I guarantee you will have more traction than you know what to do with

I agree with grogan (except with the bf Goodwrench part :)

My 11" wheels are 7~3/8" back-space, but MUST run a 1/2" spacer to avoid rubbing on articulation. So 6~7/8" is really going to be max on any wheel.

Remember, the lower the UTQG rating, the softer the tire. The softer the tire, the harder it is on your drive train.

Would this work?
http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/67077/10002/-1 Says designed for a Fox
http://www.jegs.com/i/Nitto/726/40156/10002/-1 Nitto

I would love to run some MT's, but I would hate to snap an axle 40 miles from my house. And have to go through all that crap with a tow truck and everything. I only made it to the track 2 times last year because of my work, and I ran Sumi's at the track posting some horrible 2.4 sixty ft. times. This year I am going to make more time for the track, but I put must of my tax refund toward credit cards, and need a semi cheap solution to traction. I planned on building my rear this spring but I dont think after paying 6,000 dollars in credit card debt I want to rack it right back up. So it will have to wait till next year. I just need something to get my 60's down to 2.0 or better for this year only. So I figured some Nitto's would be prefect. Next year I am going to run a Hoosier cheater slick or MT ET's. But thats a different story.

Grogan do you remember what 60's you ran with your Nitto 555's

I don't see where it says "designed for a Fox" on those tires and wouldn't make sense anyway.

Check around on eBay and such for a set of used DR's. I bet you will find them cheap, and maybe even get them in time for the track.

I think the nitto 555 will be fine to get you E.t.'s down. I'm not sure if its enough to drop you 60' a half a second though. But they will do fine until your get your rear built next year.
