you can do a threaded insert on your own..

just take your time, have plenty of lighting and patience..

find something to get down into the combustion chamber to suck the aluminum shavings from off the top of the piston as well..don't want any scoring/scratching of the cylinder walls...

i did it, but messed it up.(err, my dad helped a bit too much). it shouldnt be too hard

I blew one out last year, and blew out #3 today. I guess i'm going to try the time-sert. Does anyone know if the time-sert inserts are aluminum? or are they steel

I thought this was a problem with the earlier models not the 02 forward? From the posts above how many of you guys had replaced your spark plugs or were they they original ones from the factory?

mine were ngk TR6's, now that I have had two blow out i'm not sure if I like them. I have read that you need to re-torque all your plugs every 5000 miles, which I didnt do. also when they blew out I could tell the top threads had grime on them so it had worked its way out until it was only holding onto the last couple threads then just shot that bastard out. Sucks... looks like once I get it fixed this time I will be re-torquing them every oil change or so. I have heard some ford service techs' talking about how they dont use Anti-seize, how about some loc-tite?
