i had 2 out of the 4 snap and 1 crossthread when i removed mine. honestly the easyest thing for you to do is just buy some shorty headers(or long tubes if you want to buy another mid pipe). i spent 150.00 at 2 diffrent shops. 90.00 at the first one to retap the studs and 60.00 at another shop for them to fix what the first shop fu*ked up. if i were you id look for some used headers and go that route you'll be glad in the long run.

I think the studs are pressed in there. Did you try heating them up red hot and punching them out.

i really dont want to remove the headers. if i have to ill probably go with aftermarket shorty headers, but theres too much work taking the headers off.

on the driver side the studs screw in and have a stop nut(one came out with my old h) and on the passenger side the studs dont have the stop nut but are the same size and thread.

jrherald
did you take your headers off and take them to a shop or did they do that on the car.
id like to halfass put on my x and take the car to a shop to get the bolt out cause im having a nightmare trying to get it out.

You're just goin to have to drill it out, then re-tap it. Thats really the only way to get it. I run into this problem all the time at work with cop cars. You have to center punch the stud perfectly straight, start small, and drill it out. Just keep drilling bigger and bigger until you almost have the entire stud drilled, then use a 10-1.25 (or it might be 10-1.50) tap and just carefully re-thread the hole. Cant do much more than that. You said you used a torch, you could carefully heat up just the rest of the stud then blast it out (hit the trigger on the torch) but your threads would most likely be ****ed. So you'd have to nut and bolt it.

i cant seem to get it drilled out, eating all of my bits up.
the torch i was using was just a hand torch,i dont have a cutting torch.

what do you mean by nut and bolt it. im pretty sure thats what my dad was planning on doing if he got it out.
after ruining the drill bits and us not being able to get it out he got pissed and said **** that so im pretty much on my own getting the stud out.

would a muffler shop do it if i take the car there? i dont seem to have the tools to fix it so i dont really know what to do.

All you can really do is heat them up (you'll need a torch!)....Maybe better off taking to a shop!
