Default Rim paint

I was looking at getting new rims and tires, but decided against it. I thought I could sand them really good and repaint them chrome or whatever color and just get nice tires. So my question is does anybody know how/what I would have to use to sand them really good and get them ready to be repainted? I know its going to take A LOT, but I really want to, so I think im going to try and do it.

I'm thinking about doing the same since I don't have the $$$ for new rims and tires, if you do it let me know how it comes out and what you use to sand them down and paint them

paint wont last, the pry bar they use to put on the tires will scrape it off, not to mention the lugnuts will scratch it, your wrench might...

is powder coating out of the question? thats probably your best bet.

That is completely untrue. I painted my stock wheels over 2 years ago and they still look like the day I painted them. They are on the wifes car now.

I also painted the wifes old stock wheels and they still look perfect after being tossed around between friends for spares and wheels for drag radials.

Just clean the wheels, tape off what you dont want painted, sand the area to be painted (use 800 grit), clean them, primer them, color them then clear them. The more clear the tougher they will be.

I'm not really good at painting stuff and just used rattle cans to paint both sets. I'm just cheap and refuesd to buy wheels for the wifes car so I took my time doing them.

Why do you keep posting my sig?
