Default Spun rod? Colapsed valve retainer? anything, anyone?

Ok so my car has a ping/knock really hard for me to tell which it is-I have a sligth ting , ting at idle and after about 2500RPM + it becomes a faster louder ting/knock. I've done my research on both spun rod bearing "sounds" and valves! could not find which it may be.

The car has a slight different sound through the exhaust also with the problem, has more of a bubbly sound to it almost like a back fire but not really.

I am wondering what it may be and if you could tell me AND will any 4.6L 99-04 motor fit in my 1999GT "straight bolt up" and should i get a new tranny????

The car has not lost any power and seems to be driving fine besides that but i dont want to take the chance if it is a rod to shoot out my shiny hood

car has 117,*** miles

thanks to anyone

Q: What is it?

Q: Should i do a motor swap or rebuild?

Q: Will any motor fit of the following years 99-04 V8's??

there is no way to tell you on here. Its probably a bad lifter, thats a cheapo fix, just take off the valve cover and have a look/listen. If its a spun bearing youll know it quick and it wont last long

No "lifters" on our cars, Hydraulic Lash Adjusters (HLAs)...

Can you tell if its coming from the front of the engine? I'm almost willing to bet on your timing chain tensioners/guides. If you can get a half way decent quality video it would help us tremendously.

If your car has lost no power at all then it's probably a bearing gone bad. If it was a bad lash adjuster then it would be tapping, not knocking. Have you noticed any difference in your oil pressure after the car warms up?

It sounds more towards bottom back of motor-hard to tell, it will be kind of hard to get a video. And i understand that with only word it is very hard to diagnose a problem.

oil pressure seems fine and nothing out of the ordinary, i am going to have a buddy mechanic check it out tongiht i will def let you guys know what i find..
Wish me luck

Thanks

Ok, WELL!! brought it to a guy i know-he basically put on his ear piece and took a listen-said it is def internal and could be the pin that holds the rod and piston together "wrist pin" or it is at the front the the crankshaft--soooooooooooooooooooooooo, i dunno. Also been reading up on loose headers/header crack almost making the same noise-so i suppose i should start simply with that first .
Idea's?
