When to replace timing chain ?

Question When to replace timing chain ?

ok i tried searching and could not find it... Ok my car has 114k and it a 98 Gt im about to rebuild the complete motor with forged internals and brand new pi heads with new valve-train and cams, and also a procharger novi 1000 my question is it a good idea to replace the timing chain or not, im also debating weather to buy a High volume oil pump what do you guys suggest ?

Do both, and replace guides and tensioners too

I had 35k on my engine when it lost cylinder 8 i didn't replace it. I know 35/114 are completely different numbers but check the length, binding and other obvious damage. I would say it a good idea to replace it but not extremely necessary. If you have the money, do it. I'm not sure of the suggested T/C replacement interval.

O/T But make sure you go with a H/V oil pump. Livernois has them for $55.

ok so as far as the high volume oil pump goes i seen the ford racing for about $60 and its the one that supposedly comes on the cobras, and was thinking on the one mmr has for about $150, and what web site does that livernois sell at ? or what brands are gud ?

OEM is the way to go
