Which would you choose for installation?
Here's the deal. I have Motive 4.10 gears sitting in my room ready to be installed. I haven't purchased differential fluid yet.
I can either have them installed at a local shop I've never been to before for $250 (best price I could find) and have to buy the fluid myself, for a grand total of around $300.
Or I can get them installed at the local Ford dealership for $375, which includes the price of the full synthetic gear fluid.
My question is, which would you choose? Would you pay the extra $75 to have possibly more competent Ford technicians do the install? Or do you think any 'ol shop can put them in and not have the gears whine?

I would go with the ford dealership...mainly because I think they offer a warranty behind every install. Also, they would most likely be more competent with the gears since it is their car. You sure they'll install em since they're not ford racing gears?

they want a boatload of money for installing gears. you can get them installed at a performance shop for much cheaper. you know them shops always do stuff like that so they know what they're doing. i'm not too sure that ford dealership maintenance departments do very many gear installs.

There are 2 Ford dealerships by where I live. One quoted me $375, the other $400. All the performance shops I talked to quoted me around $450-500 (not including gear fluid).
I never mentioned the make of the gears to the dealership, but they said they would be willing to install them for me ("we're not a performance shop, though" they said...lol).
I'm leaning towards the Ford dealership...

4-hundy is about the average that I am finding to have gears installed. My 4.10's are still sitting in the garage. [&o] I'll prolly have em installed next month. Just need to find someone with a tuner to correct my speedo...
