Default Best way to fix a header exhuast leak..

Had a little fun with a Cobalt SS last week, now the car has a exhaust leak (driving me crazy). Next weekend a buddy and I are going to try and fix it. Will I have to drop the engine? What's the easiest way to tighten up the bolts? Any help would be appreciated..

unfortunately, there is no easy way to fix an exhaust leak from the headers. If you already know which side its on theres a plus. if its on the pass side good luck lol sooo frustrating. the only way is to tighten them up. If you have access to a lift then that will make your life alittle easier, but if not i would rather (this is my opinion) take my heads out of the car with the headers attached because it is such a pain in the as$ to get at those bolts from underneath the car. its not impossible because many of us have done it, but its no 1hr job.

Well first thing is determine was is leaking. Your passenger side flange gasket could have let loose which would make it a significantly quicker fix. If its one the headers easiest way is to mark off the k member and then drop it moving the motor up and down with a jack as needed. I did it all in about 6 hours when I had to replace one on the passenger side.

You must not have headers because they are a bit** to tighten. Also look in my sig I'm driving a mustang.

Hey thanks man that's just about what everyone else said.. It's coming from the passenger side. A buddy of mine tighten the bolts in the front but said that it would be best to put it on a lift and that's what we plan on doing this weekend.
