Default How can I tell if used clutch/flywheel is good?

Okay, I can get a good deal from a guy hereon a Spec Stage 3 clutch and a Spec 6-bolt aluminum flywheel. I KNOW NOTHING OF CLUTCHES. Guy says less than 100 miles on the clutch.

Does this look good? Also, good buy for my stang with 400 horse now? How hard is the install and what else would I need?

What does the pressure plate look like? The picture only shows the back of it. The install is gonna require you to unbolt the transmission from the motor and the driveshaft from the rear end. Youll then have to drop the transmission from the motor and then youll have full access to the flywheel/clutch/PP.While your at it, replace your throwout bearing and pilot bearing. You cant just pull the bellhousing like on an old car. Also do yourself a favor and resurface the flywheel.

Do what you want, but there are certain things I would NEVER buy used for my car, and a clutch is probably at the top of the list.

I gotta agree here. It's a pretty involved job to install a clutch (costly if you have someone do it) You just never really know how its gonna work if you go with something used.

That looks to have more than 100 miles on it, I would ask him why he only drove a "100 miles" on it too.
